Something has shifted at the northwest tip of the island. For years, summer in Kapalua meant a quieter shoulder season with a single marquee food weekend and a lot of empty tee times. This year the calendar is dense, the reservations are gated, and the coastal trail costs money to park at. If you already live here and you still treat Kapalua like a walk-up town in July, you will miss most of what is worth showing up for.

The through-line for summer 2026 is simple. The programming got better, and the friction got real. Booking windows matter, parking lots have QR codes, and the best seats fill within hours. Here is where the effort is worth it, and where a little planning goes further than it used to.

The Alaloa Lounge Is Doing Something Different

The Ritz-Carlton Maui, Kapalua has quietly turned its lobby lounge into one of the more consistent live-music rooms on the west side. Two overlapping series run through the season out of Alaloa Lounge, both aimed at drawing local residents in alongside resort guests.

The Kapalua Concert Series runs First Fridays. The Maui Songwriters Festival Summer Series brings Nashville writers into the same room on select Friday and Saturday nights. Admission is complimentary for hotel guests, and
